Well, here’s your chance. Entries for the 2015 IABC Gold Quill Awards are now open. Early bird entries are open until 12 November 2014, with the final entry deadline on 7 January 2015.

Exciting changes to the 2015 Gold Quill awards

The 2015 Gold Quill Awards are taking entries in 4 divisions and 47 categories. This includes six new categories that create opportunities for a broader range of practitioners. The new categories are:

  • IABC Gold Quill Boutique Agency of the Year (Five or fewer employees)
  • IABC Gold Quill Small Agency of the Year (Six to 20 employees)
  • IABC Gold Quill Mid-Size Agency of the Year (21 to 50 employees)
  • IABC Gold Quill Large Agency of the Year (51 or more employees)
  • IABC Gold Quill Corporate Communications Department of the Year
  • IABC Gold Quill Not-for-Profit Communication Department of the Year.

IABC has also responded to calls for an easier process for people entering the skills categories. To enter a skills category, all you now need to do is fill in a simple entry form and provide work samples.

What should you do?

Last year, IABC Victoria scooped the Quills pool by winning an astounding nine Gold Quill awards including three of the eight special awards.

If you’re planning (or thinking about) joining this elite group of communicators, there’s three things you can do:

Learn from the winners

Speaking of help, one of the best ways to make the most of your Gold Quills entry is to learn from those who have already been there. To that end, we have a wealth of advice for you, including:

Advice provided by our Gold Quill winners and Blue Ribbon judges at the recent IABC Victoria Gold Quills roundtable

Case studies to give you insights into winning best practices:

  • How Cabrini Health’s response to a new Government accreditation process led to international recognition through an IABC 2014 Best of the Best award.
  • Telstra used words to connect its people and customers. Along the way, the team improved performance and earned an IABC Gold Quill 2014 Best of the Best award.
  • Transurban and VicRoads developed a clever approach to a major traffic snarl that earned them the coveted 2014 IABC Business Issues award.

  1. Hi there,

Just enquiring whether the 2015 Golden Quil Awards are still open? The websites say they’re still open however the dates imply that it’s been closed for some time.

If you could let me know which is correct that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Oly

    1. Thanks a lot for your interest Oly. The 2015 IABC Gold Quill Awards are now closed. While the date is still being finalised, we expect the 2016 awards to open for submissions in mid September. As per usual, we will be holding a special workshop where people who wish to submit can learn about the process and benefit from the real life experience of previous Gold Quill winners. We hope very much that you’ll have a chance to submit and wish you all the best.
