President’s Letter – June

Hi all!

We had a great time kicking up our heels and celebrating all things excellence at our cocktail evening last month. It was great to see so many of our members up out supporting the local chapter. What fun we had! In all the excitement, I forgot to thank a few special people who helped to make the night a true success! Huge thanks to Jennifer Frahm (our superstar Past President) for her exceptional event management skills, Rebecca King for photography and Vicki at Celsius Design for graphic design services.

Would you believe that it’s almost *that* time of year again – yep, AGM time! That means we’re looking for a new bunch of enthusiastic communicators to come and help run IABC Victoria. Being a part of the board is a fantastic experience; professional development, networking with great people and giving back to the industry we all love. Check out our blog for more details and look out for the official call for entries in early July.

Details for the Executive Accreditation Seminar (EAS) in Melbourne have now been released. The EAS will be held at RMIT from the 12th – 16th of November this year. Time to register is limited, so if you are interested in becoming and Accredited Business Communicator, check out the details here or speak to our Education Chair, Belinda Lawrie.

Tickets are now on sale for the World PR Forum, in Melbourne in November. Held the week after the EAS, the World PR Forum promises to bring some of the biggest name Early bird rates are available until the end of the month and more details on the IABC stream will be released from Head Office any day now.

As I mentioned last month, next week I’m off to the USA to the IABC World Conference. In case you’re following along from home, a couple of us will be blogging from the conference so look out for our posts on Twitter and the blog. Or, if you were late to register and don’t want to miss out on catching us there, join the Ning group or tweet us using the hashtag #IABCaussieposse. I hope we can connect in Chicago! So in my absence, next month you’ll be hearing from Vice President Elect, Monika Lancucki.

Until then, take care…

Kate
