So you thought 2014 was a big year for IABC Victoria. Well, hang onto your hats, because 2015 is going to be bigger again.
There’s no doubt that 2014 was an amazing year for IABC Victoria. Our Chapter saw strong growth right across the board – from membership to event attendance to social media following.
Our members also had an incredible year, earning a record nine Gold Quills and three Special Awards in 2014.
And we ended the year with even more gongs, winning four Chapter Management Awards (for Communication, Membership Marketing, Professional Development and Leadership Development) at the recent IABC Leadership Institute in Orlando.
Of course, all this success begs a few pretty obvious questions.
How do we follow that act?
How do we continue to build the value IABC Victoria can offer you?
And how can we continue to grow our Chapter along the way?
These questions were top of mind when our (almost) all-new Board met recently for the 2015 IABC Victoria Strategy Day.
And we’re confident that the answers we came up with will lead to IABC Victoria’s most exciting year yet.
A sneak peak at 2015
So, here’s a taste.
We’re going to provide a more personal approach to supporting our individual and corporate members. This will begin right away. If you’re an IABC Victoria member, one of our Board members will contact you shortly to find out how you feel about your membership and what we could do to improve the value we offer you.
Similarly, we’re looking to offer more innovative and flexible options to our professional partners. IABC Victoria’s professional partners are vital because they enable many of the services we offer our members.
We’re going to focus even more on the future of our profession by engaging communication students all over Victoria. We’ll be doing this through a range of programs, including a new IABC Victoria Facebook page that will help our young communicators make the big leap from student to employee.
In the Communications area, you can look forward to a brand new web site in the coming months together with an increased focus on quality content. We’re particularly keen to highlight more member case studies this year, so if you have an experience you believe could help others, please let us know.
Our Professional Development program will introduce some innovative new events this year. This includes ‘Talk 5.5’ – an evening of short, engaging, informative presentations on a wide range of communication topics. Talk 5.5 will be coming your way very soon.
And, on top of all this, there’s a lot of exciting new initiatives now emerging from IABC Global. These include a very busy new program of online workshops and webinars and a new certification program that will be formally launched this year.
So hang on to your hats and get ready for IABC Victoria’s (and your) best year yet.
