Hello IABC Vicsters,

It seems this month it’s all about professional development events – and lots of them!

First, we have the IABC Victoria  Cocktail Evening on May 30,  which has has just sold out. I hope you got your ticket.  Christopher Swan, international communicator and innovator will be joining us, as well as our very own global IABC Chair, Adrian Cropley. If you didn't get your ticket for this don't worry, as there are more events for you to attend this year. Read on.

The IABC World Conference is being held in Chicago in June. This year’s theme is Avant-garde: innovative; experimental; pushing the boundaries for a 20/15 vision of communication, and promises to be excellent. We’re gathering quite a troop from Victoria and the wider Australia Pacific region, so join the Ning group or tweet us using the hashtag #IABCaussieposse if you’re coming along! I have been contacted by a few solo travellers looking to share accommodation, so if you’re coming and would be interested in sharing a room, drop me a line.

Later this year, IABC will be bringing the Executive Accreditation Seminar (EAS) to Melbourne. This will be the first time an EAS has been held in the Southern Hemisphere and we’re delighted to be the hosts. Watch this space for more details as they come from Head Office or for more information on Accreditation, contact our Education chair, Belinda Lawrie.

IABC is also hosting a stream at the World PR Forum, also to be held in Melbourne, the week after the EAS. More information on the streams and pricing can be found here.

And finally, it’s with great pleasure I welcome our new Corporate members, Medibank. Corporate members make up almost 30% of our membership base and are offered even more benefits than single members. If you have 5 or more people in your organisation wanting to be IABC members, you’re eligible for Corporate Membership. Contact our membership chair, Rebecca Cattran for more information.

Hope to see many of you at the cocktail evening!

Kate
